I was looking quickly through slides presented at Arista’s financial results for Q2 -2016 and this slide jumped out at me.
I’ve never really understood why Cisco would go to the substantial effort of taking legal action against Arista when there are strong negatives like poor public relations, costs and distraction of the senior executives. Secondly, it seemed overkill to pursue legal action in the International Trade Commission AND the patent courts to seek immediate injunctions.
This chart suggests that Arista is taking serious market share from Cisco and the slope is strongly upward.
POSTSCRIPT: Cisco has won the ITC ruling and Arista must work around the limitations of the court order.
