I’ve always thought to myself that the screens on my desk looked all wrong but I figured it was that I use a retina iPad and retina MacBook so I was used to high-resolution.
But somewhere in my upgrades, the LCD Font Smoothing has been enabled – this makes the fonts on the screen look blurry /fuzzy due to sub-pixel rendering which is not necessary on Apple screens or retina displays.
Got o System Preferences, General and uncheck “Use LCD Font Smoothing”
Your eyes will thank you.
Why ? The last time I installed Mac OS X from scratch was in 2008. I’ve just been running the upgrades since then so I’m guessing this is a holdover from a previous system. I’m thankful that I just found out about it.
