Lots of work being done on wireless to improve user safety and simplify the experience for ad-hoc network users. You know, when at a coffee shops or attempting to use guest WiFi in an office, the connection experience is pretty grim.
So there is much work to improve the process of ad-hoc connections to someone else’s network.
Except what you really want is to have an always on, always present network connectivity like your smartphone has. It should have enough bandwidth for video, low enough jitter for a voice codec and no consumption charge for bytes used.
I don’t want ad-hoc WiFi. What I really want is better 3G/4G/5G network that just works all the time without constraints.
The reason I want ad-hoc WiFi access ? To avoid using the permanent network because it costs too much. Thats the thing that really needs fixing.
