Most of my work is about network design and solving problems. I’m often asked to provide a quick fix or a short term solution. I often can find a way to design a workaround or fix that can make do or manage for a while longer.
The problem with the budgets and projects based on ITIL and PRINCE2 processes is that big solutions are hard. I mean hard to fund, hard to get support for, hard to justify and just plain old hard. The result is that big problems are often ignored, belittled or simply delayed indefinitely.
But this doesn’t change the fact that big problems need big solutions. Big money, big projects, big resources and deliver big results.
