Ethan here – one of the goals of the Packet Pushers Podcast is to foster a sense of community for Network Engineers (you are not alone!!). So, for this upcoming holiday season, we want all of you to participate in the show by recording your holiday wishes to your fellow listeners and sending them to us. At the end of the Christmas special we’re planning right this very minute, we’ll play everyone’s greetings.
How do you get us the audio? One of two ways.
- Record the audio yourself, and send it to Ethan – firstname.lastname@example.org. I don’t care what audio format you use, just keep your attachment under 5MB. Or send me a URL where I can download your audio – that works, too. Uncompressed or lightly compressed is better.
- Fire up your Skype and add “ethancbanks” to your contact list. Then call me, and I can record the audio for you.
What should the greeting sound like? Something simple…like this:
- “Hello! This is Bob, network engineer from London (@bobneteng on Twitter) wishing my fellow Packet Pushers listeners and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I LOVE CISCO!!”
Of course, you can mix that up a bit…just keep it short and sweet, and make sure you mention where you’re from. Be funny, nerdy, or clever if you like (never hurts), and please no naughty language. If you want to plug your blog or Twitter account, go for it! Just keep your rambling under 30 seconds. 10-20 seconds is more like it.
We look forward to hearing from you!
