Looking backward at last week or forward into next week.
unregenerate – adj. not reformed, unreconstructed, obstinate, stubborn
Last week I attended the IETF 96 conference in Berlin. It was awesome because I was privileged to be squired around by Russ White. Russ introduced me to loads of people who wouldn’t otherwise know I existed. A huge thanks to him for his time and commitment.
Next time I get all ranty about the IETF I’ll be thinking about people instead of some faceless star chamber full of Trump-alikes. I’m reflecting on my experience and will write more in the weeks ahead I think.
More Geoff Huston
I got five minutes with Geoff Huston who promised to record another podcast around Christmas time. Apparently he got a lot of feedback from the previous podcast and said we had a lot of fun, lets do it again.
Podcasts To Watch Out For
I also recorded two Packet Pushers podcasts this week, one on IETF I2RS proposals with Sue Hares and the aforementioned Russ White.
The second podcast is a doozy with the baseline topic of “BGP Is A Useful and Successful Virus” where we talk about what people are doing to replace BGP as a messaging bus for distributed systems. I spent hours preparing for this show and still not sure if I knew enough to be smart. Fortunately, I have guests to do that.
Indignity of Air Travel
Travelling in the modern era remains awful. Lets pretend that the societal reasons that makes airport security intrusive and unpleasant is acceptable. I said pretend.
There was a time when an airport was desirable and full of wonder. Now its more like being locked into a over-priced shopping mall with nowhere to hide, low quality food and never enough to staff around to clean toilets or man the concessions.
On the way home from the airport I’m hammering down the motorway at 80mph and a loud popping noise comes from the engine. The dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree, engine stalls and I’m rolling down a three lane motorway without power.
Status: car condition remains unknown and wondering if I could live without a car ….
Motorise Your Carryon
Ok so cool and practical. But you look like a dork.
Open Source Home Growing Robot ?
Once upon a time I had a 400 sq/m vegetable path and grew a lot of my own vegetables. Would this tempt me back ?
