Network Dictionary – TACrathon

Define TACrathon

TACrathon – (derived from TAC Marathon) When a Cisco TAC case requires you to ‘Follow the Sun’ to work on a problem with Cisco networking equipment and its takes hours and hours of telephone support to get the problem solved and a marathon effort to keep yourself going.

Since the the TAC never gives up, your case gets transferred from engineer to engineer as the the time zones changes, it is possible to literally spend days on the phone to the TAC working to get the problem fixed. For Senior Network Engineers who always get the really difficult problems, you can expect to do this four or five times every year or more if you have really new equipment that doesn’t have all the bugs ironed out yet. Or you are using some really weird feature, that you know, you ABSOLUTELY KNEW you shouldn’t have used, but you did, anyway,
