Network Dictionary – Pedantic

Dictionary Definition- A pedant is a person who is overly concerned with formalism and precision, or who makes a show of his learning. [Source:Wikipedia]

Network Dictionary – What people turn into when they review your design documentation. Suddenly people who are barely literate become grammar experts, or point out your past participle, or other esoteric grammar mistakes. The fact that the document will be read by no-one one it’s signed off is irrelevant.

Come on, grammar is important. More so for WORN documents ;)

Note to Reader: WORN = Write Once Read None

One for the dictionary I should think.

“Write Once Read Never” to be precise ;)

Oh, stop being so pedantic ;-)

  • Pedant

    … ONCE it’s signed off…

      My theory is following:
Doubt that the person that signs off the doc has any nw skills….therefore that person only “skimms” through the doc. For these reasons one definitevely needs:

      1. picture
      2. picture
      3. picture
      4. picture
      5. diagram that looks like a picture
      6. graph that is rising from left to right
      7. another graph that is rising from left to right but using different coloring
      8. some dangerous looking text full of abrev.

This actually keeps the BIG “signee” happy.

The problem seems to be with the people working FOR the signee….
