Network Dictionary – GONER

Term used to describe the embittered but experienced network engineer who has the infuriating habit of knowing mostly everything that a young engineer is still learning. And will tell stories and tales from the “old days”, which of course, young engineers don’t understand or much even care about.

Plural form GONERS to refer to a group of GONER telling stories over beer.

Yes. I’m told that by my younger colleagues that I am a GONER.

    According to Wikipedia “Gyne is the primary reproductive female caste of social insects (especially ants, wasps, and bees of order Hymenoptera). …”

    now it all makes sense :-D
