Network Dictionary – Forward Planning

I just love the idea of ‘Forward Planning’ but not because of endless meetings of navel gazing and pointless predictions of core network growth, 10GB ports needed this year, storage convergence, and rack space needs. No, not even discussions about budgets and other tasks can dim my excitement.

And that’s because if you have Forward Planning there must be BACKWARD PLANNING and I can’t wait to go to that meeting, and tell them “I told you so”.

What ? There’s no such thing as backward planning ? Then there forward planning is also false.

It’s a tautology. Planning is a prediction task, and forward prediction is saying it twice.
