Network Dictionary – Exemplar

The word exemplar is a great word for Network Architects.

Exemplar is defined in the Oxford English Dictionary:

1. A pattern, model; a perfect specimen (of some quality); a person or thing to be imitated.

One part of the Network Architecture is to produce Design Guides, or Design References or Implementation Templates or the like. But the titles are incredibly dull and tedious.

When I was at school, I had heard teachers someone as an exemplary student because they were well behaved and studious. Using the shorter term seems like a good use of the word.

  • VPN Exemplar
  • Switch Port Exemplar

Yep, I like that.
