Not enough. Not even close to enough. Spending roughly 1.25B per year is what second rate players are spending. For example, Cisco blew $1.2B to buy Jasper and continues to plough large sums into that business unit hoping for a result. AppDynamics cost $3.5B to provide the deeper insights and apparently reporting good returns. So $5B is pffffttttt…..

Amazon has an IOT backend plus a wide range other functions. They have an entire product set around IOT of message brokers, registries, device provisioning and authentication. The Microsoft IOT platform is inadequate by comparison. There is some advantage due to the Microsoft ecosystem and enterprise developers but is it enough ?
