Microsoft OpenDocument Doesn’t REALLY Work

Rob Weir puts the Open Document Format to the test for compatibility. Shows that Microsoft’s Office 2007 Service Pack 2 ODF support isn’t compatible with any other spreadsheet in the market.

I sat in a meeting this week discussing whether to upgrade Microsoft XP for an entire company. The upgrade would cost some millions of pounds. Not one engineer at the meeting could find a positive thing to say about the company including the Microsoft admins. The level of ‘hate’ for their behaviour seems to be coming around to more than just accepting the inevitable and people are beginning to actively look for alternatives, or just wait as long as it takes for something to arrive.

I say, “bring on the revolution”.
