Yup, regular reader of your blog, and can see it is occasionally off-line, most of the time it's slow. I use fasthosts.co.uk, never had a problem. 60gbp per year for a reseller account, unlimited domains etc, though cheaper hosting available with cpanel & fantastico for limited domains. I've only tried the support (for customisation issues) via phone, is a minute or two max wait, same with on-line chat, never tried via email.

Only point ref fasthosts as far as I saw on researching them before, make sure T&C are understood as they stick to the contract you buy. Change your mind after the cooling-off period, no. Though every hoster I have used in the past has been inflexible to contract changes anyway so no prob 4 me.

I'm a fan of Rackspace Cloud. You get root access to your VM just like slicehost and linode but you pay based on the resources you use instead of getting an "unlimited" plan. If you run into a situation where you are getting hammered you can resize your server for a couple of hours to handle the load and size it back down when the traffic subsides.

Unlike MediaTemple you will need to install apache mysql wordpress etc yourself but I'm sure you can figure that out yourself.

It looks like you have some type of compression enabled in your current setup. I would turn that off as it can kill an under powered server.

I can recommend EUKHOST as a good and cost effective provider. Been very good with support issues so far and no performance problems with any of my sites as yet!
