Hi Greg,

Thank you very much for posting this. When I was first starting my studying a post like this would have been extremely welcome! I am also very glad to see someone else that needs near total silence to concentrate completely. I used ear plugs at the lab every time, and I would highly recommend it. The lab is a noisy place, and being able to block that all out helps a great deal!

I was also very excited to see you mention Spaced Learning! I have been a HUGE advocate of Spaced Learning, and I am positive that making my own focused test questions and using Spaced Learning to turn my weakest areas into my strongest was what made the difference for my final attempt!

I generally don't cross-link other people's posts on my blog, but I am slowly posting all of my self-made focused test questions on my blog; and this post fits so perfectly with the exact methods I used to pass that anyone who reads my blog must read this post!

PS... I'm not sure if you check the comments at CCIE Candidates or Etherealmind, so I will post it on both.

Thanks Robert. We need both types of people to make the system work, but I would wish that everyone could be appreciated.

you said:I need to remind myself that there is another ten years before I retire to a management role, and there is much technical learning to happen before then.

dude great site. you are a dying breed for saying what you said. many CIOs and IT managers that I know do think that way. they call all the shots and know nothing of IT really. the techs and engineers are the ones who know the systems. so what you said above is wise. too bad all IT managers an CIOs were higher for their IT skills not their bullshit talking...
great site and good words man! wish they had a mental case for us nonipod and nonmac users. ;(
