Rant:New Logos ? Tasteless Rubbish

Here are my viewpoint.
Derivative, Flat and just Ugly
The logos provided are the ultimate expression of marketing dullness. Frankly, I can’t find anything attractive about with of these logos. The only visual impression that I am getting is a broken down 1960s Cadillac with chrome fins. Just to be clear, that’s not a good look.
My alternative vision, is a horse arse with some writing on it.
Compared with these logos, the current CCIE logo is elitist and classic. Perfect. The medallion in the logo has lost its context because Cisco stopped sending out the medallion, but it remains a striking visual effect.
BTW, Cisco should start the medallion thing again, but we have covered that elsewhere.
Its a logo, not an essay
If this is meant to be a logo, why is there so much text ? I am not getting a visual aesthetic from either of the proposed formats, surely, that is what is intended ? Look at this screenshot of the logos.…
Got any visual impact from that, or did you get tired trying to read it ?
Relative Importance
The proposed CCIE logos suggest that it is the next level. Visually, the CCIE logo looks like ‘just another step’. Which it isn’t, it about ten times more difficult and extremely elite. Therefore the logo should be RADICALLY different from the other logos. Not just some incremental photoshop tweaking on the basic aesthetic.
What I am seeing here, is some graphic designer told to create three levels of logo, probably without understanding the basic premise. Cisco marketing probably doesn’t understand the difference. So where are the people from the CCIE program who are supposed to be standing up for us ?
Now, I try hard not be an arrogant toe-rag who is big noting himself, but i think the CCIE program means something. It is a major achievement, and should be recognised as such.
I agree wuth CCIEpursuit — these logos are a BIG improvement for CCNP and CCNA programs, but they are disparaging to the CCIE community.
Side by Side — the Old and The New
Put the new the old side by side. Tell me what you think ?

I will continue to use the old one! (espcially since they do not have a 10-year version anyway)
Same feelings here. Lets step it up Cisco. This is supposed to be the Premier Network Certification and you want to give me a logo that looks like I won it in a Cracker Jack box. That sucks but at least I have this cool tatoo now!
Yep, I totally agree, pretty tasteless. I much prefer the original one… I really don’t like the fact that the new logo does not say anything about “expert” just some letters
Indistinct. Boring. Tedious. Unworthy of what they represent.
the router symbol is essential and it shows the meaning of the certification, again, it does look old and odd, but it has its own beauty, and old is gold,.. again regarding the new logos,.. all that glitters is not gold. so I’d go for the pretty old Cisco logo. cheers!
Gotta agree. Old logos are the shiz! It has that feeling to it. If I ever become a CCIE I will sure use the old logo
I don’t care for the new logos either. The idea of having a different logo to signify the different versions of CCIE isn’t bad though. Maybe they could use the old logo and update the device image in the middle. The one showing could be the original R&S logo. That way, for multi-CCIEs, they could line the logos up across the bottom of their business cards instead of having one logo and writing Routing and Switching / Voice … beside it.

I agree with a german CCIE. I’d use the old one before I’d use any of that garbage. The thing is they say people voted on it but it was a vote about which crap sandwich you’d rather take a bite out from.
Of course, they would change the logo just before I reach the 10-year mark! (May need to order that jacket early.….)
