CCIE Water Cooler Gossip: Tolly’s Review of IPexpert vs. Internetwork Expert CCIE Labs | NetworkWorld.Com Community

October 26, 2008 by Greg Ferro · 2 Comments

The online bitch-slapping-fest between IPexpert and Internetwork Expert has reached a rather fevered pitch after Brad Reese spewed up the biggest troll post I have seen in years.

There seems to be a lot of ego, a lot of history, and airing of dirty laundry going on here. It not pretty for anyone involved, and frankly, as a customer its not looking good for either party. I can’t be bothered to spend too much time on it, digusting that grown men are acting this way.

They should be concentrating on making themselves better than Cisco 360 if they want their businesses to do well. That shouldn’t be hard to do, but when Global Knowledge or FastLane1 rolls out their CCIE training program using Cisco Joint Marketing Fund money to pay for students of resellers, both companies revenue stream might be in trouble.

I think the competition will ultimately help us, the customer. It does seem rather silly, but is interesting to read. The mud slinging seems a lot like politics.

AS an IE customer I think their product is decent, but there is definately room for improvement. I did choose them over ipX based one SOME website info, but reputation with other customers and samples of their materials.

That being said, their support for questions/issues is not great, the workbooks still have some errors, the VOD stuf is decent but could use index/TOC something. Even with all of that I feel like their overall workbook / COD training method covers the material in a more comprehensive format than the others that I have seen. IMHO of course.

Sure it was a troll, but it was funny as all get out. Reading the Tolly report and the surrounding commentary has been vastly entertaining. Kind of a bad soap opera for geeks. My job is stressful, and every once in a while, I need comic relief. For that, IPExpert, I applaud you.

Looking forward to the next installation in the drama…As The Packet Turns…
