Internets of Interest:6 Dec 09

Collection of useful, relevant or inane places on the the Internets for 6 Dec 09:

  • Random Acts Of Reality :: Father

This guy is an ambulance / paramedic and his father abandoned him and his family. Then he gets called out for an emergency and it's his father who he has to assist.

I find the story heartbreaking in its humanity.

  • When it rains it pours! | Michael McNamara

Michael McNamara is getting weirdness from his Nortel ERS8600 switches and wants to know if anyone else is having the same problems. Please drop by and add your comments if you can. Even if you aren't, that would be a help.

I wouldn't want to be having these problems on my core switches.

  • Is Google Public DNS safe? Look at the source ports – InternetNews:The Blog – Sean Michael Kerner – I am sure that there is much more to come on Google's Public DNS but initial security checks suggests that it's security is good enough.

Since most ISP's have not upgraded their DNS for source port vulnerabilities, you should use either OpenDNS or Google. I choose Google so that I don't get the ads from OpenDNS.
