Internets of Interest:16 Mar 10

Collection of useful, relevant or inane places on the the Internets for 16 Mar 10:

  • RFC 5771 – IANA Guidelines for IPv4 Multicast Address Assignments – Appears to codify existing Best Practice.
  • Cisco Small Business 100 Series Unmanaged Switches – Products & Services – Cisco Systems – If Cisco must have a consumer product, this is the right way. Not Flip video cameras.
Part of the Cisco Small Business Series of networking solutions, Cisco 100 Series unmanaged switches deliver wire-speed Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet connectivity to connect your small business office. Available in desktop and rack-mount models, these switches are designed to suit any office space and help optimize power efficiency. They provide long-term investment protection and support for advanced features like quality of service (QoS) all in a switch that you can set up by yourself in just minutes.

  • Cisco CEO Chambers: Why the Flip video camera matters to CIOs

This is hysterical. You use video instead of blogging ? It's quicker for you to make but slower for everyone else. Watching a video takes too long to consume and cannot be skimmed.

You ask the top leadership at Procter & Gamble what they use Flip for. They use it to submit ideas to the CEO. You ask what I use Flip for? My team pushed me, saying 'John, you've got to think about blogging.' I said no way. I can talk 200 words a minute. Why would I ever want to blog? Today, I will do probably four Flips to the whole company or to a specific audience.

  • Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol – Cisco Systems
Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) is an interior gateway protocol suited for many different topologies and media. In a well designed network, EIGRP scales well and provides extremely quick convergence times with minimal network traffic.

Still an excellent introduction to EIGRP and contains good learning material on EIGRP
