Number 1 Reason to Avoid Using the Cisco Learning Network | Cisco Study Blog

Brandon makes a good point about Cisco intervention in the Cisco Learning Network. In general, Cisco employees have a tendency to overstep the mark and can be rather taken with their imagined importance. They also get very defensive about looking after the ‘company image’ or their public profile.

Number 1 Reason to avoid using the Cisco Learning Network | Cisco Study Blog: “”

Most likely this is just one person who needs a slap on the wrist by their manager but it is a symptom of a greater sickness going on inside Cisco. With the economic downturn, the pressure to do things better will increase from managers who overcommitted to budget targets six months ago. Read this article at Network World on a Cisco employee acting poorly, I have certainly seen this, and this includes the TAC as well as AS :

They are going nuts over there. Here is another example. http://poprl.com/3r6 Someone was smacked down by saying they “Failed By One”. Cisco says that the pass score is unpublished. If the pass is x and you scored x -1%, then unless there are >100 questions you probably failed by one. That is not proprietary information.

Yeah, the moderators (Nini especially) seem to chime in at the stupidest times. It’s almost a given that if any training materials outside of the Cisco approved ones are mentioned, a moderator will chime in with their cut-and-paste post. Even when people are talking about legit stuff. Sometimes moderator postings seem so out of place that I wonder if they are automated to an extent.

They might be moderated by someone who has no idea about what they are doing. Think “call centre in India” where the people have little knowledge, little motivation and feel that they have to do something to justify their existence. I might be a little mean here, but maybe not off track.
