Network Dictionary - markitecture

1 - Markitecture describes the attempts of marketing borgs to give us suggestions on how to implement a given technology. The basic idea is that you are too stupid to understand the technology so you need some marketing collateral to show you how its done.

Not to miss any opportunity, the borgs don’t hesitate to push every button possible by not only including the product they want to sell, but also every and any product that might, just possibly, have some sort of tenuous relationship with it. The latest example of this was the recent announcement by Cisco of the ASR1000 which had lashings of videoconferencing(1) goodness attached to it. As if buying an ASR1000 was suddenly going to make you leap up and whip out the order book for videoconferencing.

2 - Equivalent to Serving Suggestion on that can of baked beans that suggest you should also buy tinned sausages. Surprisingly, this just so happens to be made by the same company. Gosh, what a surprise.

Postscript

Cisco now calls this ‘Reference Designs’. Make sure you ask for them by name

Note 1 - Calling it ‘telepresence’ just doesn’t work for me. You aren’t there. No, really. No matter how hard they try to convince you.
